Iranian Nomads

A gem at Zagros of Iran with an area of about 500 square kilometres.

Nomadic, beloved and honest people. Muslims who are believe to brightness of light and faithful to their sky. Its elegant men and the patient women are the glorious jewelled of Iran.
Hi to life and simplicity, hi to tree, hi to shepherds and the flocks that are passing the clear and bright river, and to awesome bells, hi to fire and kettle, hi to breads that are stuck to the heart of the pan and hi to warmth dreams. Hi to fresh “Thirry” (a local nice bread).
Naseri's bride, like all Bakhtiari women, bakes the household's bread in every morning, and if any guest came, she bakes bread to three times a day.
once again, The Taraz Mountains take the Bakhtiari people in their green pasture as an arm around in the spring. We go for 300 kilometers south of Taraz to the Dinar and the Chirvan valley. One of the Nomads reaches this place of the valley and they are making nomadic black tent. The type of housing and necessities of the life of the Bakhtiyari nomads which is remarkable and beautiful. The kind of materials used in building this home or tent, the availability of everything of its kind suggests a simple yet efficient architecture in their life.
Bakhtiari tribesmen live in black tents called Bohon
These black tents, depending on their size, consist of 14 to 20 pieces which is called "LET" (persian word "لت") each of which is 6 to 10 meters in length and 40 to 60 cm in width. For weaving the black tufts, the goat hair is used which is more durable, and moth can’t penetrate to them. Another feature of goat hair is that it expands during rainfall times and allows less moisture to penetrate inside it, and in the heat and radiation of sunlight contracts and cools the tent by letting more wind come in.
The nomadic women weave the Bohon on horizontals arrows called the "Tamdar". They cover around the Behon , with rocks and dig gutter that water cannot enter the behon. Inside and outside of the tent, they dig two small pits, which are as a family stove and they called them "Chale".  before the installation of the Bohon, a stone platform with a height of 20 cm and with width of approximately 70 cm and with tent on the ground is made. Inside the rock, one or two places leave empty to place the water skins and yogurt. These rocks are called Chol.  Which is always in the back of the tent and facing to the entrance of it.
Saddlebags and other things that are necessary for life are on Chol and laid on them a cloth to covering them which in the Bakhtiari language it is called " Lei".
Oh, the sky, where is your attention?  the beautiful heart of daughter of nomads is broken, say to the smalls cloud to get together and begin to rain drip drip here on our scarf.  the plain is thirsty, the meadow is thirsty, lambs are Impatient, the valley is impatient to rain to become green.
Houman is waiting for Kiarash to come. He is not on time, and yet the young goats of Barat have not reached the pits. While Kiarash make himself warm by heater, Houman and the mother will have made a Doogh for dinner. The rains are finishing and the silver light of the moon is coming. Brat and his boys who are shepherd, watch the herds until the morning so that wolves can’t capture the herds. Here is the Dinaran, the nightingales nice voice of the valleys of Choylan.
Starting the life with the Bakhtiari woman by throwing fire to the pit, and the shepherds prepare the herds for grazing. The beauty of the Choylan valley reaches its peak. We make musk and God put blessing for everyone in this land. As the smoke is coming from behon , it means  that the tablecloth pulled everyone together with love.
The grass is growing nicely from the soil, the flock is happy, the birds wing for the sake of finding delicious seeds.
This lamb was born last night and just when the herd has been far from the fence, it has lost its mother and now the mother of the lamb is looking for her lamb. The weak lamb is trying to drink the first breast milk. Kiarsh helps the lamb to drink milk and learn how to walk and graze. Nature respects the noble Bakhtiari's beliefs, because this lovely people like Greens. The Bakhtiari people use as much as they need of the nature, use milk as much as their need, use blessings for their tablecloth as much as they need and not more than it.
The health of the flocks is in the first place of importance, so that the sky is kind to the land and always rain, nomads are kind to the land and the grassland is the gifts of the land to the herds, the herds and the wools of the herds are for scissor. This beautiful cycle and these exchanges is continuing for centuries. The dog continues to smell the flock of herds after Sheep shearing, so that a stranger will not be added to the herd or any member of the herd get lost.
